sometimes, you have to take life's shit with a smile on your face AND AT SOME POINT, THROW IT BACK. as you can see, ma-angst akong tao. madaming issues. feeling madaming problema. e ano ngayon? im pushing 30 so i'm losing my right to say that all these issues are wrought from quarter-life crisis...

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Don't cry
The path that I'm walking
I must go alone
I must take the baby steps 'til I'm full grown, full grown
Fairytales don't always have a happy ending, do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay

9 years and 6 months ago, this song faintly crept from joanna ang's room into my mind...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had no choice but to hear you
You stated your case time and again
I thought about it
You treat me like I'm a princess
I'm not used to liking that
You ask how my day was
You've already won me over in spite of me
Don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn't help it
It's all your fault
Your love is think and it swallowed me whole
You're so much braver than I gave you credit for
That's not lip service
You are the bearer of unconditional things
You held your breath and the door for me
Thanks for your patience
You're the best listener that I've ever met
You're my best friend
Best friend with benefits
What took me so long
I've never felt this healthy before
I've never wanted something rational
I am aware now
I am aware now

1. Your houseplants are actually alive.
2. Having sex in a twin bed is out of the question.
3. You keep more food than air in the fridge. >> and you learn to cook too, something that is actually edible
4. 6:00 a.m is when you get up, not when you go to bed.
5. You attend weddings instead of debuts. >> at mga binyag
6. There are fewer people in the office you call kuya or ate. >> and more people call you ms... or ma'm... (sarap sapakin)
7. Your friends marry and divorce instead of “hook up” and “break up.”
8. You go from 130 days of vacation time to 14.
9. Jeans no longer qualify as “dressed up.”
10. You’re the one calling the tanod because those %&@# kids next door won’t stop the party at 3 AM.
11. Your titos and titas ask you when the wedding is >> everytime they friggin see you. and not only that, they tell you to hurry the hell up para di mapanis ang mga egg cells. geeez. talk about pressure).
12. You still remember when Madonna had cones in her boobs. >> and her "like a virgin" video
13. Your budget allocations include rent and utilities, and don't include photocopy - Philo handouts anymore.
14. Your favorite singers have started releasing "Greatest Hits" compilations.
15. Sleeping on the couch makes your back hurt.
16. You take naps.
17. Dinner and a movie is the whole itinerary for Saturday night instead of the beginning of one.
18. Staying up late was something you shouldn't do but you did, anyway.
19. You go to the drug store for ibuprofen and antacid, not condoms and pregnancy tests. >> umm....
20. A PhP300 bottle of wine is no longer “pretty good shit.” (I remember Maha and Rica with this)
21. You actually eat breakfast food at breakfast time. >> and you've grown averse to McDo breakfast meals too
22. “I just can’t drink the way I used to” replaces “I’m never going to drink that much again.”
23. 90% of the time you spend in front of a computer is for real work.
24. You drink at home to save money before going to a bar.
25. When you find out your friend is pregnant you congratulate her, instead of thinking of it as THE scandal of the century.

These are chicks of brawn and beauty. So who says that these two should be mutually exclusive?

"If I had my life to live over,
I'd dare to make more mistakes next time. I'd relax;
I'd limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.
I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.
You see, I'm one of those people who lived sensibly and sanely hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I'd have more of them. In fact, I'd try to have nothing else. Just moments, one after the other, instead of living so many years ahead of each day. I've been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat, and a parachute. If I had it to do over again, I would travel lighter than I have.
If I had my life to live over again, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would go to more dance; I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies.

I’m up there waiting for you to come down the aisle
And I know that you don’t want to come
I know you don’t want to come
But that you’ll come anyway because you love me
and if I love you
if I love
You
not the woman that I’m trying to make you be
not the woman that I hope you’d become
but you
if I did, I wouldn’t be up there waiting for you
I would be letting you go.
… I really wish that you didn’t think
I wish that you knew.

I could promise to hold you and cherish you
I could promise to be there in sickness and in health
I could say till death do us part
But I won’t
Those vows are for optimistic couples
The ones full of hope
And I do not stand here on my wedding day
optimistic or full of hope
I am not optimistic, I am not hopeful
I am sure
I am steady
And I know
I am a heart man
I take them apart, I put them back together
I hold them in my hands
I am a heart man
So this I am sure
you are my partner, my lover, my very best friend
My heart, my heart beats for you
And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this
I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands
I promise you
Me

I was right
I swear I believed what I did was right
I don’t want you to forgive me
Frankly I’d find it patronizing if you did
Because while I know I was right
You think I’m wrong
Which doesn’t matter
Because I’m in this
I’m in this for the long haul
And I’m in this to finish the race
So if that means I don’t win this one
Then fine, I don’t win
You win.

today, the Eagles lost against the Archers ...
why does the basketball team have this psychological problem? Just when the team makes a big win, a bigger slump is almost always sure to follow. I have noticed this pattern for years now, starting when the team got strong circa late-1990's (nung nasa college pa ako). And this problem persists even with the string of stellar coaches and players.
Is it a problem of over-confidence? Caving in the pressure to perform? Angst or pamimilosopiya about not deserving the win? Kulang sa libog or sa Viagra? Or baka sobra naman tapos naubos dahil nag-celebrate ng panalo?
It's clearly not a physical problem. It's all in their heads.
heck, win or lose, it's the school I CHOOSE. ANIMO!
nothing more needs to be said.

7. not stop dreaming
8. be understood
9. be patient
10. try new things

12. stop being busy and just live
13. make things less complicated

NOT-SO-VITAL STATISTICS
I posted the entry below on Jul 7, '06 6:22 AM.
After 1 year, 1 month, and 20 days, I'm proud to say that I've finally achieved my ideal weight (operative word = "my"). Still working on the "statistics" though. Hahahaa.
What did I do?
- went to
- nakakatamad magluto for 1 person, so di na rin ako masyadong nagluluto (at kumakain) sa house ngayon
- commute and walk to work/home carrying 2 kilos-worth of laptop and kikay stuff for approx 2 hours a day
- less rice & carbs
- fruit or salad (no mayo) for dinner
- normal meal for lunch
- 1 piece of toast, with minimal spread, and 1 cup of non-fat milk for breakfast
Surprising results. And I didn't have to give up my once-a-month Ruffles and dark chocolate craving.
So kung gusto nyong pumayat, pumunta na rin kayong
